On Tuesday (May 20, 2025), American Airlines announced that just in time for the busy summer travel season, customers transiting Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) will now be able to enjoy a 25,000 square-foot oasis as their new Flagship® and Admirals Club® officially open on May 22nd.  Access to the lounges will be available to eligible AAdvantage® members, qualifying oneworld® members, and customers traveling in premium qualifying same-day flights.  The new lounges are located in Terminal A-West between gates A15 and A16, replacing the Admirals Club lounge in the A-East Terminal.

In Tuesday’s announcement, American Airlines’ Chief Customer Officer, Heather Garboden, said,

“We are excited to welcome our customers into American’s newest preflight experience with the opening of our brand-new Flagship® and Admirals Club® lounges in the A-West terminal.  With more than 19 million travelers passing through Philadelphia last year, our passionate team worked zealously to create a calm, comfortable sanctuary away from the terminal hustle where customers can relax, recharge and feel taken care of before their journey takes off.”

Every element of the lounges have been thoughtfully curated to create spaces that feel more like a modern hospitality destination.  This includes natural materials, warm woods, organic textures, zoned lighting and ambient music.  Guests will also enjoy a variety of seating options, from café chairs and bar stools to soft lounge seating and private work pods, as well as high speed Wi-Fi, ample power outlets and clearly displayed flight information screens.  Additionally, curated artwork throughout ads local cultural character, while spa-style shower suites, tranquil bathrooms with high end finishes, and family friendly spaces ensure every type of traveler has been considered. Guests will enter the lounges through a shared reception lobby with multiple guest service stations and eGates.

The nearly 12,500 square-foot Flagship® lounge offers an elevated experience for customers traveling in Business Class on qualifying international, transcontinental or select domestic flights.  Guests will be greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne, and can enjoy panoramic runway views, six spa-style showers and a variety of seating options.  Those looking for a culinary experience can enjoy dishes created by local Chef, Randy Rucker, a James Beard Award Semifinalist®.  Customers can also indulge in a unique-to-Philadelphia a-la-carte dining experience, which can be ordered via QR code.

The nearly 11,000 square-foot Admirals Club® lounge offers a refreshed take on the classic lounge experience.  This includes curated self-service offerings, specialty Don Francisco coffee, a full-service bar and a dedicated kids’ area.  The lounge design follows American’s latest Admirals Club® lounge design found at Washington Reagan National (DCA) Denver (DEN), and Newark (EWR).  To support peak traffic, there is flexibility to add 1,364 square-feet to each lounge as needed.

AAdvantage® members with Platinum status or higher can access the Flagship® lounge, along with non-AAdvantage oneworld® Emerald℠ and Sapphire℠ members on qualifying itineraries when traveling internationally in a Flagship® cabin.  Additionally, Single Visit Passes are available for 15,000 AAdvantage® miles.  For customers traveling domestically, access to the Admirals Club® lounge is available through a membership, qualifying oneworld® status or the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive credit card. A 24-hour One Day Pass is also available for purchase for $79 or 7,900 AAdvantage® miles.
