American Airlines Simplifies Customer Shopping Experience when Booking Travel

Now, all Premium Economy tickets include two free checked bags, long-haul International Main Cabin tickets include one checked bag, and customers traveling in Asia/Oceania will be offered a new non-changeable Basic Economy Plus Bag fare that includes one checked bag.

On Tuesday (February 23, 2021), American Airlines announced the launch of a simplified guest shopping experience when booking their travel experience. Now, all Premium Economy tickets include two free checked bags and long-haul international Main Cabin tickets include one free checked bag. Additionally, customers traveling in Asia/Oceania will be offered a new non-changeable Basic Economy Plus Bag fare which includes one free checked bag. The changes are part of American’s desire to provide customers with a more consistent and transparent booking experience.


In today’s announcement, American Airlines’ Chief Revenue Officer, Vasu Raja, said,


“We want to make American the easiest airline to do business with. To accomplish this, we are creating transparent fare products and policies that are consistent across our global network so customers can clearly choose their experience when they travel with us.”


Agencies that use new distribution capability (NDC) will also now be able to offer their customers new packaged fares and corporate experiences that include certain seats, bags and privileges at the time of booking.
