Alaska Airlines has named Daniel Chun as the carrier’s new Regional Vice President for Hawai‘i. In this newly created role, Mr. Chun will serve as the senior executive for Alaska in the islands, leading the company’s growth strategy and engaging with the local community.
On Wednesday (August 30, 2023), Alaska Airlines announced the appointment to Daniel Chun as Regional Vice President for Hawai‘i. In this newly created role, Mr. Chun will serve as Alaska’s senior executive in Hawai‘i, leading the company’s long-term growth strategy in the islands and continue to deepen the airline’s longstanding support and engagement with the local community. Daniel Chun joined Alaska Airlines in 2011, and most recently served as the Hawai‘i Director of Sales, Community and Public Relations. Alaska Airlines has served Hawai‘i since 2007, and currently offers more service between the U.S. West Coast and Hawaii than any other carrier.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Alaska Airlines’ CEO Ben Minicucci, said,
“Alaska Airlines is proud and humbled to have served Hawai‘i for over fifteen years, and Daniel’s leadership has helped us to do so in a way that reflects our values, including our emphasis on care and stewardship. As we continue to support the relief and recovery efforts on Maui, we are committed to serving the community in Hawai‘i now more than ever and are thrilled to recognize Daniel’s leadership with this new role. Anyone who knows Daniel appreciates his kindness and integrity, and we are grateful to have him as a member of our leadership team.”
Daniel Chun has over 20 years of experience in Hawaii’s tourism industry, and previously served on the Board of the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority. He was born and raised on the island of O‘ahu and is a graduate of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, with a Bachelor of Science degree in travel industry management.
Also commenting on his appointment, Alaska Airlines’ new Regional Vice President for Hawai‘i, Daniel Chun, said,
