Air Seychelles Welcomes Inaugural Service Between Tel Aviv And The Seychelles

Air Seychelles, the national carrier of the Republic of Seychelles, welcomed their first nonstop flight from Tel Aviv on Friday. The flight was greeted by a traditional water cannon salute at Seychelles International Airport.

Air Seychelles announced today the arrival of their first-ever nonstop flight from Tel Aviv to the Seychelles. The flight, HM021 landed at 8:15AM and was greeted at Seychelles International Airport by a traditional water cannon salute. The celebration was attended by numerous dignitaries including the Republic of Seychelles Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, Mr. Didier Dogley, Air Seychelles Chairman Jean Wheeling-Lee and the airline’s CEO, Remco Althius. At today’s welcoming ceremony, Mr. Dogley said,


The launch of the new service between Seychelles and Tel Aviv will further enhance the tourism and economic ties between the two countries, in addition to making a significant contribution towards the growth of tourism in the Seychelles which has been targeted between 3 to 5 percent for 2019. As part of our marketing efforts to bring the Seychelles Islands to the world, we will continue to work with Air Seychelles to build our presence within the Israeli market, to further increase our visibility and establish Seychelles as the preferred holiday destination in the Indian Ocean.”


Also speaking at the flight arrival celebration, Air Seychelles’ Chief Executive Officer, Remco Althius added,


“We are tremendously excited to have added Tel Aviv unto our network and delighted to welcome the first guests on our new scheduled nonstop flight from Tel Aviv to the Seychelles today. Being on board this first flight which was 100 percent full with 120 passengers, the maximum capacity for this route, I must say that since we made the announcement to fly on the Tel Aviv route, the feedback from the Israeli market has been very positive.”


Founded in 1978, Air Seychelles currently offers international service to Abu Dhabi, Johannesburg, Mauritius, Mumbai, and now Tel Aviv. The airline also offers 350 domestic weekly scheduled flights throughout the archipelago as well as charter services. Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, holds a forty percent stake in Air Seychelles and the airlines maintain a strong strategic partnership.
