On Wednesday (November 24, 2021), Air Seychelles announced the resumption of flights to Mumbai from December 2, 2021. The carrier will offer one weekly flight in December, increasing to twice-weekly service from January 2022. The restart of flights to Mumbai follows the lifting of travel restrictions between the Seychelles and India on November 12, 2021. The route will be serviced with a 168-seat Airbus A320neo. Air Seychelles ceased commercial services to Mumbai on March 25, 2020 due to the pandemic, but continued to operate a series of charter, repatriation and cargo flights on the route.

In Wednesday’s announcement, Air Seychelles’ Chief Commercial Officer, Charles Johnson, said,

“After a 20 month hiatus, we are thrilled to be offering normal commercial flights once again between India and the Seychelles. During the covid-19 pandemic, we were able to offer some charter flights between the two countries, but on an extremely limited basis. Now with the return of normal commercial flights, we are able to once again offer choice and convenience to our guests. With the return of flights to India, Air Seychelles is now flying to all of its pre-pandemic destinations on a regular basis.”

Regardless of vaccination status, travelers to the Seychelles must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result done 72 hours prior to departure, as well as travel insurance covering COVID-19. Travelers to Mumbai must also have a negative PCR test result as well as the completed approval received from the mandatory health declaration form completed 72 hours prior to departure on the Air Suvidha portal. Air Seychelles reminds guests to verify and adhere to the guidelines of their final destination, as each city may have specific regulations.
