On Friday (January 21, 2022), Air Serbia announced the launch of two new routes from Belgrade with service to Trieste and Bologna starting June 2022. Both routes will operate three times weekly, with Trieste service available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from June 2nd, and flights to Bologna on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting June 6, 2022. With the new routes, Air Serbia will offer six destinations in Italy from Belgrade including Rome, Milan, Venice and Bari. The new routes will also provide seamless onward connections via Belgrade to other destinations in Air Serbia’s network such as Athens, Bucharest, Dubrovnik, Istanbul, Krasnodar, Larnaca, Moscow, New York, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Skopje, Sofia, Thessaloniki, Tirana, Tivat and Zurich.

In Friday’s announcement, Air Serbia’s Head of Network Planning and Scheduling, Bojan Aranđelović, said,

“The decision to introduce new destinations in Italy is the result of the strategic importance of renewing and strengthening our presence in one of the most visited countries in the world. Italy represents an extremely important market, both for our airline and for Serbia, due to close economic ties between our two countries. We are especially glad to commence direct flights to Trieste, the city with the biggest Serbian diaspora in Italy, while services to Bologna will furthermore contribute to strengthen our cultural and economic relations with Italy.”
