Air India has announced that starting February 1st, 2026, their popular route between Mumbai and Frankfurt will be operated with a newly delivered Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner featuring new cabin interiors.

On Thursday (January 15, 2025), Air India announced a significant enhancement to their popular Mumbai-Frankfurt route, with the deployment of a newly delivered Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, featuring new cabin interiors, starting February 1st. The route between Mumbai and Frankfurt operates five times weekly, providing convenient connectivity between the financial hubs of India and Germany. With the new 787-9 deployment, all Air India flights to Germany will now be operated with new or upgraded aircraft, including flights between Delhi and Frankfurt.
This is just the latest upgrade in Air India’s ongoing fleet renewal program, which will see additional widebody deliveries and retrofits throughout 2026, delivering modernized interiors to a significant portion of the carrier’s long-haul fleet. Thanks to a codeshare partnership with Lufthansa, inbound customers to Frankfurt can enjoy seamless one-stop connections to 29 destinations across Europe, as well as select points in the Americas.

Additionally, Air India's optimized flight schedules to Europe allow travelers from Frankfurt and other parts of Europe to take convenient one-stop connections via Delhi or Mumbai to several popular destinations on the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia and Australia. This enhanced connectivity enables seamless journeys to cities such as Bangkok, Bali, Colombo, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Phuket, and Singapore.
