Air Canada is launching new nonstop service between Vancouver and Santa Ana in Orange County, California starting October 2, 2021. Initially, the route will be operated four times weekly, increasing to daily service in 2022.
On Wednesday (August 11, 2021), Air Canada announced the launch of new nonstop service between Vancouver (YVR) and Orange County (SNA) California from October 2, 2021. The carrier will initially offer four weekly flights on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, increasing to daily service in 2022. The route will be operated with a Boeing 737-8 MAX with Premium and Economy cabins, as well as upgraded inflight entertainment at every seat. The new Orange County (Santa Ana) service follows the recent addition of transborder service from Quebec City to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale which will begin this November. By this fall, Air Canada will offer up to 240 daily flights to and from 35 U.S. destinations. The airline plans on restoring all 57 pre-pandemic destinations as soon as conditions improve.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Air Canada’s Senior Vice President – Network Planning and Revenue Management, Mark Galardo, said,
“We are pleased to strategically add another popular transborder service as we continue restoring our Canada-U.S. network. Orange County is known for iconic tourism, sports and entertainment, high tech industries and more, and our service to John Wayne Airport offers customers another convenient airport choice in the greater Los Angeles area. Our schedule enables convenient connections through our Vancouver hub to and from our destinations across Canada. We look forward to welcoming our customers onboard.”
As of August 9, 2021, fully vaccinated Americans can enter Canada for non-essential travel without quarantine hotel requirements. Relaxed testing requirements also allow Canadians taking short transborder trips of less than 72 hours to do their pre-entry tests in Canada. Additionally, Air Canada’s new refund policy offers customers options of refunds, an Air Canada Travel Voucher or equivalent value in Aeroplan Points plus a 65 percent bonus if the airline cancels or reschedules a flight by more than three hours.
Air Canada is Canada’s largest domestic and international airline. The Canadian flag carrier is a founding member of the Star Alliance and the only international network carrier in North America to receive a Four-Star ranking from Skytrax. For the last two years Air Canada was also named Global Traveler’s ‘Best Airline in North America.’ Additionally, Air Canada has committed to a net zero emissions goal from all global operations by 2050.
