Aeromexico Announces Resumption of Service to Acapulco With Four Weekly Flights From Mexico City

Aeromexico announced on Sunday the resumption of service to Acapulco with four weekly flights from Mexico City. Aeromexico first flew from Mexico City to Acapulco on September 14, 1934 with a Stinson Reliant SR-5 aircraft.

On Sunday (September 6, 2020), Aeromexico announced the resumption of service between Mexico city and Acapulco with four weekly flights. Upon arrival at Acapulco international airport, operated by Grupo Aeroportuario the aircraft was greeted with a traditional water salute. Aeromexico's first flight between Mexico City and Acapulco took place on September 14, 1934 with a Stinson Reliant SR-5 aircraft, carrying four passengers (including the captain) on the one hour and forty minute flight. Located on the Mexican Pacific, Acapulco offers stunning natural attractions such as the Coyuca and Tres Palos Lagoons, beautiful weather, a vibrant culinary culture, international entertainment events like the Mexico Open and exciting shows such as the divers of La Quebrada. In Sunday’s announcement, Aeromexico’s Sales Director for Mexico and JCA, Jose Zapata, said,


“Returning to this destination that marked the beginning of our history is very special. We will continue to increase our network, and we want to thank our great allies of the Government of the State of Guerrero, the Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte, all stakeholders of the State industry, and our internal teams for making this restart possible.”


Also commenting on Sunday’s resumption of service to Acapulco, The Secretary of Tourism for the State of Guerrero, Ernesto Rodriguez Escalona added,


“It gives us great pleasure that Aeromexico resumes its service to Acapulco. It is a clear sign that the measures and protocols that we have been applying in the destination are boosting confidence not only in our visitors but also in our business partners. Today we share the responsibility to take care of those who visit this beautiful port. Welcome back Aeromexico to Acapulco.”


Aeromexico recently announced an expansion in their route network for September 2020 and the carrier expects to operate 7,600 flights to over 60 domestic and international destinations this month.
