Wizz Air Adds Sixth Aircraft to Tirana Base, Launches Four New Routes

Wizz Air will allocate a sixth aircraft to their Tirana, Albania base and launch four new routes. The new Airbus A321 will join the fleet in December 2021, enabling the carrier to add service from Tirana to Liverpool, Madrid, Billund and Oslo Sandefjord Torp.

Today (August 11, 2021), Wizz Air announced the addition of a sixth aircraft to their Tirana, Albania base, as well as the addition of four new routes to Liverpool, Madrid, Billund and Oslo Sandefjord Torp. The new Airbus A321 will join the carrier’s fleet in December 2021. The four new routes are in addition of existing service from Tirana to Ancona, Verona, London Luton, Brussels Charleroi, Paris Beauvais, Berlin, Hamburg and Memmingen/Munich West. To celebrate the launch of the new routes, the carrier is offering fares from only €19.99.


In Wednesday’s announcement, Wizz Air Group’s President, Robert Carey, said,

With this announcement we are adding four new exciting routes from Tirana to Liverpool in the United kingdom, Madrid in Spain, Billund in Denmark and Oslo Sandefjord Torp in Norway. Our modern aircraft, as well as our enhanced protective measures, will ensure the best possible health conditions for travellers while operating with the lowest environmental footprint. Wizz Air launched operations in Albania in 2017 and has since carried over 500,000 passengers. The carrier will operate an all Airbus A321 fleet of six aircraft from Tirana from winter 2021. The additional aircraft will increase capacity from Tirana by over 251,000 seats annually and create 40 new direct jobs. Including the four new routes announced today, Wizz will offer 38 routes to 15 countries from Tirana.


Budapest, Hungary-based Wizz Air serves over 150 destinations across 44 countries and operates an all Airbus A320 Family fleet of 142 aircraft, with an average age of 5.4 years. The airline has the largest order book for 250 A320neo Family aircraft, which will enable the company to reduce its environmental footprint by 25 percent by 2030. Wizz Air is the largest low-cost carrier (LCC) in Central and Eastern Europe offering over 700 routes from 45 bases. During FY 20 (ending March 31, 2020) the airline served approximately 40 million guests. Wizz Air offers superior guest service at exceptionally low fares.
