WestJet Group Appoints Michael Scott as EVP and Chief Financial Officer

WestJet Group has today announced the appointment of Mike Scott as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. The 30-year aviation industry veteran will join WestJet’s executive team on June 13, 2023.

On Thursday (June 8, 2023), WestJet Group announced the appointment of Michael (Mike) Scott as the company’s new Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer effective June 13, 2023. Mr. Scott is a 30-year aviation industry veteran and joins WestJet from StandardAero, where he has served as CFO and Treasurer for over 13 years. With expertise in asset and capital management, investor relations and M&A realization, Mike will oversee all financial management of the WestJet Group. Jenn Bue, who has served as Interim CEO for the last five months, will now transition to SVP – Finance and Deputy Chief Financial Officer, reporting directly to Mike Scott.

In Thursday’s announcement, WestJet Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Alexis von Hoensbroech, said,

We are a year into successfully executing on the WestJet Group’s strategy to resume a long-standing track record of profitability, as we get back to our low-cost roots in service of safe, reliable and affordable travel for Canadians. Also commenting on his new role as WestJet Group’s CFO, Mike Scott, said,

A native of Winnipeg, Canada, Mike Scott has his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA) designation and is a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant (FCPA, FCMA) and recently served on the Board of the Manitoba Aerospace Association.


In 27 years of service, WestJet has cut airfares for Canadians in half and increased the flying population around Canada by over 50 percent. The airline launched in 1996 with three aircraft, 250 employees and five destinations, and has now grown to more than 180 aircraft and 14,000 employees, offering service to over 110 destinations in 24 countries.
