WestJet has today announced an expansion of their Boeing 787 Dreamliner schedule from Calgary for the winter 2024/25 season. The carrier will introduce year-round service to Tokyo-Narita, and offer enhanced service to London, Paris, Mexico and Hawaii.
On Monday (May 13, 2024), WestJet announced an expansion of their winter 2024/25 transoceanic Boeing 787 Dreamliner network from Calgary. The carrier will offer year-round service between Calgary International Airport (YYC) and Tokyo-Narita (NRT), and increase to daily flights between Calgary and Paris (CDG) and London Heathrow (LHR). WestJet will also increase 787 service on popular leisure routes between Canada, Mexico and Hawaii. WestJet’s 320-seat Boeing 787 Dreamliners and configured in three cabins, and offer spacious seating for every guest need and IFE systems at every seat.
In Monday’s announcement, WestJet’s Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, John Weatherill, said,
“Our 787 winter schedule reflects the growing demand for year-round international options for business and leisure travellers from our global hub in Calgary to Asia, Europe, and North America. We will continue to strategically position our Dreamliners to provide the best global access between Western Canada and the world.
“This winter, WestJet will fly more than 60,000 seats between Asia and Alberta, creating a catalyst for year-round collaboration between our two unique economies and tourism hubs. This route has proven to be an exceptional conduit for transpacific leisure and business travellers connecting to Calgary and Alberta.”
Inbound guests to Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport will also enjoy seamless one-stop connectivity between Paris and 53 additional European destinations thanks to WestJet’s codeshare partnership with Air France. This winter, Westjet will also deploy their flagship Boeing 787 Dreamliners on popular leisure routes, doubling capacity between Calgary and Cancun with twice daily service, while increasing flights to Puerto Vallarta to daily. WestJet will also continue to offer daily 787 service between Toronto and Cancun, as well as three weekly flights between Calgary and Honolulu.
With 28 years of service, WestJet has cut airfares for Canadians in half and increased the flying population around Canada by over 50 percent. The airline launched in 1996 with three aircraft, 250 employees and five destinations, and has now grown to more than 180 aircraft and 14,000 employees, offering service to over 100 destinations in 26 countries.
