On Monday (January 17, 2022), Vietjet announced the relaunch of service between Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok, with two weekly flights on Fridays and Saturdays starting January 21, 2022. Currently, the carrier operates an extensive domestic network in Thailand with service from Bangkok to top business and leisure destinations, including Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Krabi, Hat Yai, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Surat Thani, Udon Thani, Khon Kae and Ubon Ratchathani, among others. Vietjet has also resumed a number of other international routes from Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City, including service to Tokyo Narita, Taipei, Seoul Incheon, and Singapore, with one weekly return on each route since early January 2022. The airline plans on reopening their entire international network soon, while adding new routes to India, Russia and other countries.

In Monday’s announcement, Vietjet’s Vice President, Nguyen Thanh Son, said,

“We are delighted to reconnect Vietnam with Thailand, one of the most favorite international destinations for Vietnamese people, as well as offering Thai people more opportunities to come back to Vietnam after a long hiatus due to the pandemic. The service resumption between the two financial, cultural and travel hubs will also contribute to the countries’ economic recovery while meeting the increasing travel demand of people in the region, especially when the Lunar New Year holidays draw near and the peak travel season in summer follows.”

Vietjet is currently offering free COVID-19 PCR test packages to all passengers flying internationally from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Travelers are reminded to comply with all health and immigration regulations of their destination country, including vaccine passports, negative PCR tests, quarantine and accommodations requirements.
