Airbus has today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vietjet for the purchase of 100 A321neo aircraft, the potential to add another 50 in the future.

On Tuesday (June 17, 2025), from the Paris Air Show 2025, Airbus announced that Vietjet, Vietnam’s largest private airline, has signed a MoU covering a major new order for 100 A321neo aircraft, with the potential to add another 50 in the future. The agreement was signed today during the Paris Air Show by Vietjet CEO Dinh Viet Phuong and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus’ EVP Sales of Commercial Aircraft. With a fleet of over 100 Airbus aircraft, Vietjet continues to expand their global network and fleet modernization program.
In Tuesday’s announcement, VietJet’s Chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, said,
“This new agreement marks a significant milestone in our strategic partnership with Airbus. These modern and efficient aircraft have been instrumental in Vietjet’s growth, helping us make air travel more accessible and affordable for millions, while strengthening our role as a connector for economic development, cultural exchange and global connectivity. This landmark agreement represents a vital step in Vietjet’s growth strategy as a multi-national aviation group.”
Also commenting on the order agreement, Airbus’ EVP Sales – Commercial Aircraft, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, added,
“Our latest agreement comes just weeks after the airline placed an additional order for A330neo widebody aircraft. Together the A321neo and A330neo will be perfect partners for Vietjet to continue to spread its wings, efficiently matching capacity more closely to demand across its network. The airline will also benefit from the high levels of technical commonality that are unique to latest generation Airbus aircraft.”
The largest member of the A320neo Family, the A321neo offers unmatched range and performance. With new generation engines and Sharklets, the A321neo delivers a 50 percent reduction in noise footprint and a more than 20 percent reduction in fuel use and CO2 emissions compared to previous generation single aisle aircraft. The A321neo also maximizes passenger comfort with the widest cabin in the sky for a single aisle aircraft.
As of May 31, 2025, the Airbus A321neo had received more than 7,000 orders from over 90 customers worldwide. Like all in-production Airbus aircraft, the A321neo can currently operate on 50 percent SAF, with 100 percent SAF capability targeted by 2030.
