Vietjet celebrated new service on Sunday from Can Tho in the Mekong Delta to Taipei and Seoul. This is the first time that international service will connect Can Tho with the capital cities of Taiwan and South Korea.
Yesterday, Vietjet celebrated inaugural service from Can Tho, the Mekong Delta’s hub city to Taipei and Seoul. For the first time, Can Tho will be connected to the Taiwanese and South Korean capitals. As part of the celebration, the carrier also donated to Can Tho’s fund for the poor to ensure the city’s underprivileged will experience a bountiful Tet. Can Tho-Taipei service will operate four times weekly with a 12:40PM departure, arriving Taipei at 5:10 PM. The return flight will leave Taipei at 6:10PM, arriving Can Tho at 8:55PM (all times local). Service from Can Tho to Seoul-Incheon will operate three times weekly departing Can Tho at 4:50PM, arriving Seoul at 11:55PM. The return flight departs Seoul at 2:30AM, arriving Can Tho at 6:30AM (all times local).
Sunday’s inaugural celebrations at Can Tho International Airport were attended by Vietjet’s Managing Director, Luu Duc Khanh, Vietjet’s Vice President, Do Xuan Quang and other dignitaries. Can Tho is the economic, cultural and tourism center of the Mekong Delta and Vietjet hopes the new services will help promote tourism and trade between the region and Taipei and Seoul. Visitors to Can Tho will experience the beautiful southwestern river region of Vietnam with iconic features such as the Cai Rang floating market, the Ninh Kieu wharf, the fruit garden at Phong Dien and the ancient village of Long Tuyen.
During 2019, over 8.8M tourists visited Can Tho, the Mekon Delta’s central city. Vietjet is the largest carrier at Can Tho International airport offering seven domestic and two international destinations. Since starting Can Tho operations in 2014, The airline has been instrumental in the economic development of the region, which is experiencing an average year-over-year tourism growth rate of around 30%.
