United Airlines Announces New Codeshare Partnership with Indian Carrier Vistara

United Airlines announced Wednesday a new codeshare partnership with Indian carrier Vistara. The agreement will allow United’s customers to book travel on 68 Vistara flights to 26 destinations throughout India.

Today, United Airlines announced a new codeshare partnership with Indian carrier Vistara. The agreement, which commences on February 28, 2020, will allow United’s customers to seamlessly connect of Vistara’s 68 flights to 26 destinations throughout India. The codeshare builds on the existing loyalty program relationship between the carriers where MileagePlus and Vistara’s loyalty program members can earn and redeem miles on both networks. The agreement provides convenient booking and travel to popular destinations in India including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Goa, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur, Varanasi and many more. In Wednesday’s announcement, United Airlines’ Senior Vice President of Alliances, John Gebo said,


“We are excited to offer our shared customers the option of building a seamless itinerary when planning travel to cities beyond New Delhi and Mumbai. United has connected customers to India for more than 15 years with daily flights between New York/Newark and Delhi and Mumbai and now our new service between San Francisco and New Delhi. Our relationship with Vistara opens up even more options for customers to travel between our East and West Coast hubs and multiple destinations throughout India.”

Also commenting on the new codeshare partnership, Vistara’s Chief Commercial officer, Vinod Kannan added,


“Vistara today connects the length and breadth of India, and we are delighted to offer the country’s only five-star flying experience to customers of United on their Indian domestic flights. The U.S. continues to be one of the biggest source markets for foreign travelers into India and the region, and this partnership allows us to provide a seamless travel offering for customers to and from the U.S.”


Tata SIA Airlines Limited (Vistara) is a joint venture between Tata sons Limited and Singapore Airlines (SIA). Vistara is India’s highest rated airline, with top ratings on Skytrax and TripAdvisor as well as a 5-Star rating from APEX. In a short span of just five years, the carrier has distinguished itself for excellence in operations and service delivery. The airline currently operates over 200 daily flights with a fleet of 32 Airbus A320s and seven Boeing 737-800NGs. Rapidly growing Vistara will grow their fleet to more than 50 aircraft over the next three years including the addition of state-of-the art Airbus A321neos and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.


United Airlines operates around 4,900 flights daily to 362 airports across six continents. In 2019, the airline in conjunction with their United Express regional subsidiary operated over 1.7 million flights carrying more than 162 million guests to domestic and global destinations. United has the most comprehensive route network of any U.S. carrier with major hubs in Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New York/Newark, San Francisco and Washington D.C. The airline has a fleet of 791 mainline aircraft and regional United Express partners operate a combined fleet of 581 aircraft.
