United Airlines Announces Eight New Routes, Increases Winter Flights to 19 Sunny Destinations

The airline is expanding their winter 2020/21 international schedule to popular holiday destinations in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America. The new and increased services will be available from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Washington D.C. and Cleveland.

On Friday (October 16, 2020), United Airlines announced a significant expansion of their winter 2020/21 schedule with eight new routes and increased frequencies to 19 popular sun-seeker destinations in the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico. From December, the carrier will launch new nonstop service between Los Angeles and San Jose, Costa Rica as well as San Pedro Sula, Honduras. United will also start new service from Denver to Belize City, Belize and San Jose Costa Rica. Additionally, the airline will launch new flights from Washington D.C. and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and resume service between Cleveland and Cancun, Mexico. In January, United will also begin new service from both Los Angeles and San Francisco to Liberia Costa Rica.


Tickets on most routes will be available from October 17, 2020, while flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Costa Rica can be booked starting October 21, 2020. In Friday’s announcement, United Airlines’ Vice President of International Network and Alliances, Patrick Quayle, said,


"These eight new routes highlight the continued expansion of our network and build upon our strong presence in Latin America. Our new and increased service offers travelers more opportunities to find warm-weather getaways and visit friends and family over the winter season."


This winter, United is adding service to seven beach destinations in Mexico including Cancun, San Jose del Cabo and Puerto Vallarta, as well as more weekend flights to Cozumel from Chicago, Denver and Houston. From December 17, 2020, the airline will also increase service between Washington-Dulles and the Caribbean with daily year-round service to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. The carrier will offer a total of 10 Caribbean destinations from Washington D.C. including seasonal daily service to Punta Cana, Grand Cayman, Nassau, Montego Bay, Aruba, Turks and Caicos and San Juan, as well as weekend flights to St. Thomas and St. Maarten. United Airlines also serves Cancun, Mexico and San Jose, Costa Rica from Washington and is increasing frequency to San Salvador, El Salvador to twice-daily service.


United’s customers traveling from Denver will enjoy more nonstop flights to Latin America with new service to Belize City, Belize and San Jose, Costa Rica, as well as Cancun, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta, San Jose del Cabo, Nassau and Liberia. As previously mentioned, customers from Los Angeles and San Francisco can book all new nonstop flights to two Costa Rican destinations starting October 21, 2020, for travel from December 19, 2020. Three-times weekly service between Los Angeles and San Pedro Sula, Honduras will also commence on December 17, 2020, while the carrier is increasing frequencies between Los Angeles and Guatemala City as well as San Salvador to ten and eleven-times weekly, respectively.
