Turkish Airlines will launch new service between Istanbul and Melbourne, Australia via Singapore with three weekly flights starting March 15, 2024. The new route expands the carrier’s network to 346 destinations in 130 countries across six continents.
On Friday (January 19, 2024), Turkish Airlines announced the launch of new service between Istanbul (IST) and Melbourne (MEL), Australia via Singapore (SIN) starting March 15, 2024. The route will operate three times weekly with departures from Istanbul on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. With the new Melbourne service, Turkish Airlines’ network expands to 346 destinations in 130 countries across six continents, and the carrier will become the only European airline operating flights to Melbourne Airport.
In Friday’s route announcement, Turkish Airlines’ Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, said,
“Today is an important day for us. We have realized our goal of reaching the continent of Australia, which we have been successfully working on for a while, with the confirmed flight date.
“We have a significant global value that distinguishes us from our competitors as we are the airline that flies to more countries than any other in the world. Maintaining this valuable mission is a very strong motivation that drives us to work harder, more devotedly, and with more enthusiasm. With this motivation, we are excited to add Melbourne as our 346th destination to our flight network. Australia, with its natural beauty and hospitable people, becomes the 130th country and 6th continent under our wings.

In the coming years, we plan to strengthen our presence in this beautiful country by increasing both the frequency of our flights and the number of our destinations. In celebration of the new route launch, tickets between Istanbul and Melbourne are now bookable from US $1,199 and between Melbourne and Istanbul from AUD 1,499. The launch fares are available for booking from January 19th through April 15, 2024, for travel from March 15th through May 15, 2024.
