On Monday (April 26, 2021), TAP Air Portugal announced the signing of a new agreement with AccesRail, facilitating the booking of seamless intermodal air and high-speed rail travel across Europe. The agreement with AccesRail opens the itineraries of TAP’s customers to onward destinations through major European rail operators including Deutsche Bahn in Germany, Trenitalia in Italy, TransPennine/GWR in the United Kingdom, OBB in Austria and Belgium and SNBC in the Netherlands and Belgium.

In Monday’s announcement, TAP Air Portugal’s Chief Network and Revenue Officer, Arik De, said,

“We are very excited to be able to have the TAP Air Portugal brand be available to more people in Europe. With this landmark inter-modal partnership, a significant number of Europeans can now buy an integrated and more sustainable product to come visit Portugal. Linking rail and air is fundamental to a sustainable future, and our partnership with AccesRail allows us to build the platform towards achieving that goal.”

The new high-speed intermodal rail connectivity expands the reach of TAP’s Lisbon hub, offering seamless connectivity to cities and communities previously unserved by Portugal’s national airline. AccesRail, which has been in operation for over 20 years, is the largest intermodal Global Distribution System (GDS) provider of high-speed rail travel services in Europe.
