Canadian ultra-low-cost carrier Swoop has announced a summer schedule expansion with new routes and low fares to British Columbia. The updated schedule includes service to Victoria as well as the resumption of service and new routes to Kelowna.
On Wednesday (March 31, 2021), Canadian ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) Swoop announced an expansion of their 2021 schedule with more service to British Columbia including new service to Victoria and the resumption of flights and new routes from Kelowna. Planned operations to Victoria were previously delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Swoop’s new service to British Columbia includes flights from Toronto and Edmonton. From June 20, 2021, the airline will also launch service to Kelowna from Hamilton and Winnipeg.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Swoop’s President, Charles Duncan, said,
“Our summer schedule expansion is in response to strong advance sales and in anticipation of demand from Canada’s most price-conscious travellers as they look towards the accelerated pace of vaccine rollouts across the country. We are thrilled to be offering Canadians even more opportunities to connect with British Columbia’s vibrant West Coast and Okanagan region this summer. As we continue to plan for recovery, our focus remains on ensuring the safe reopening of air travel within Canada. When the time comes for a safe resumption of travel, it will be critical to ensure access to affordable travel exists within our borders and Swoop is strategically positioned to meet that need in British Columbia and across the country.”
Founded in 2018, Swoop is a subsidiary of the WestJet Group. The airline is Canada’s leading ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) and operates a fleet of nine modern Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft with in-seat power and WiFi. The Swoop business model offers low base fares which only include a seat, allowing guests to customize ancillary services to suit their personal needs and budget. The Canadian ULCC currently serves 23 seasonal and year-round destinations in Canada, the US, Mexico and the Caribbean.
