On Monday (October 11, 2021), Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) announced the launch of twice-weekly service between Zurich and Beirut from December 2, 2021. The route will initially be operated on behalf of SWISS by Edelweiss Air under a wet-lease agreement, and will be serviced with a 174-passenger Airbus A320. Edelweiss Air will operate the route from mid-January through March 2022, at which time SWISS will operate the route with their own equipment. The flight time between Zurich and Beirut is approximately four hours, and tickets are now available for booking on the swiss.com website and via all other booking channels.
In Monday’s announcement, Swiss International Air Lines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Tamur Goudarzi Pour, said,
“As The Airline of Switzerland, we strive to offer our customers a route network that is tailored as closely as possible to their air travel needs. We are proud that, for the first time in its history, SWISS will now connect the capital of Lebanon directly with Switzerland and our Zurich hub. We hope that our new services will also help the city of Beirut in its reconstruction. And we look forward to bringing more people and more cultures together.”
