SWISS Names Benedikt Escher Head of Network Management

Benedikt Escher has been appointed Head of Network Management at SWISS effective February 1st, 2021. Mr. Escher is currently Head of Scheduling and Slot Management and will succeed Michael Trestl, who became Austrian's Chief Commercial Officer earlier this year.

On Friday (January 29, 2021) Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) announced the appointment of Benedikt Escher (36) as Head of Network Management effective February 1st, 2021. Mr. Escher is currently Head of Scheduling & Slot Management at SWISS and he will succeed Michael Trestl in his new position, as Trestl became Austrian Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer earlier this year. Escher will report directly to SWISS Chief Commercial Officer Tamur Goudarzi Pour and within the Lufthansa Group to Heiko Reitz, the Group’s Senior Vice President - Network & Mobility Offer. In Friday’s announcement, SWISS’ Chief Commercial Officer, Tamur Goudarzi Pour, said,


“I am delighted that, in Benedikt Escher, we have recruited such a skilled and experienced network specialist from our own ranks. In his present function, Benedikt Escher has made optimum use of all the resources required to ensure smooth and robust flight operations, and has done so in some highly challenging and ever-changing conditions. I wish him every further success and satisfaction in his new function.”


Mr. Escher joined SWISS in February 2019 as Head of Scheduling & Slot Management. In that role he was responsible for ensuring efficient, competitive and profitable SWISS schedules, by optimizing company resources including fleet and crew planning, aircraft maintenance, ground services and airport slots. Prior to joining SWISS, Benedikt Escher spent five years at Edelweiss Air where he oversaw network planning and development. During his tenure at the carrier, Edelweiss Air experienced their largest fleet and network expansion in their history.

A Hamburg native and Swiss National, Mr. Escher holds a Master of Arts Degree in International Affairs & Governance from the University of St. Gallen and a Master of Science degree in Entrepreneurship & New Business Venturing from the Rotterdam School of Management in the Netherlands.
