Spirit Airlines announced on Wednesday that guests will earn five times the bonus miles when booking a flight by August 18, 2020 for travel through February 9, 2021. For a limited time, Free Spirit® loyalty members will earn 2.5 miles for every mile flown.
Today (August 5, 2020) Spirit Airlines announced that Free Spirit® loyalty members can earn 5X the bonus miles on every flight booked from now until August 18, 2020 for travel through February 9, 2021. Members usually earn half-a-mile for every mile flown but for a limited time the bonus mile award has been boosted to 2.5 miles per mile flown. For example, a single roundtrip between Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Los Angeles (LAX) could earn an award ticket for a trip from Atlanta (ATL) to Minneapolis (MSP) or Austin (AUS) to Las Vegas (LAS). Additionally, Elite Members and cardholders will earn five miles for every mile flown. In Wednesday’s announcement, Spirit Airlines’ Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Matt Klein said,
“We know how eager our Guests are to get back to some sense of normalcy, and for many of our Free Spirit® members that includes traveling to see friends and family or taking a vacation. With five times the miles, we’re helping our Free Spirit® members make more of those trips when they’re ready, and we’re committed to providing a safe and healthy experience when they do.”
Spirit Airlines is dedicated to taking care of their guests and team members and has implemented a multi-layered approach which includes requiring all guests and team members to wear facemasks. Every aircraft in the fleet also uses state-of-the-art HEPA filters which capture 99.7 percent of airborne particulates, including viruses, every three minutes. The carrier has also introduced enhanced aircraft cleaning procedures between every flight using hospital-grade disinfectants on high-touch areas such as tray tables and armrests. Additionally, Spirit uses two EPA-registered flogging treatments, with the first applying a high-grade disinfectant effective against COVID-19 and the second forming an invisible antimicrobial barrier.
