Singapore Airlines announced Monday that Brussels, Belgium will become their latest European destination as they expand their route network. Subject to regulatory approval, service will commence on October 25, 2020 with four weekly flights on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Singapore Airlines (SIA) will service the route with an Airbus A350-900. In yesterday’s announcement, SIA’s Senior Vice President – Marketing and Planning, Mr. Tan Kai Ping said,

“We are excited to launch services to Brussels – a city that is both an important economic and political hub in Europe. This also represents SIA’s commitment to constantly expand our network reach and provide our customers with a more seamless travel experience.”

Brussels is not only the capital of Belgium but is also home to the European Union (EU). The city has the highest population density in Belgium as well as the highest GDP per capita. Brussels is also home to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), as well as the secretariat of the Benelux, the political and economic union between Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Belgium's capital city is also known as “The Crossroads of Europe” making it an ideal hub for rail, road and air traffic. In addition to the new Brussels service, Singapore also offers non-stop flights to Amsterdam and Düsseldorf. Tickets for the new route are available for purchase from December 17, 2019 for travel commencing October 25, 2020.
