SAS to Launch New Service to Toronto From Copenhagen and Stockholm Starting June 2022

SAS is expanding their North American network with new direct flights to Toronto from Copenhagen and Stockholm starting June 2022. The carrier will offer three weekly flights from Copenhagen and four weekly flights from Stockholm with a brand new Airbus A321LR.

On Tuesday (February 8, 2022), SAS announced the launch of new routes to Toronto with three weekly flights from Copenhagen and four weekly flights from Stockholm starting June 2022. The route will be operated with a brand new Airbus A321LR aircraft configured in three classes with 157 seats, including 22 fully lie-flat SAS Business, 12 SAS Plus (premium economy), and 123 SAS Go (economy class) seats. The aircraft’s quiet cabin features mood lighting and high speed Wi-Fi. Additionally, every seat is equipped with IFE screens, PC-power and/or high power USB ports.


In Tuesday’s announcement, SAS’ Executive Vice President – Commercial, Karl Sandlund, said,


“We are happy to announce direct flights from Scandinavia to Toronto, taking the next step in strengthening our North America network. SAS’ new routes will make travel between Scandinavia and Canada easy and convenient for our travelers. Flights depart from Scandinavia at midday and from Toronto in the afternoon enabling good connections in either end to other destinations.


“SAS aims to be a global leader in sustainable aviation. As we continue to phase in new, fuel-efficient aircraft we now have one of Europe’s most modern fleets. The new, state-of-the-art aircraft will give our customers a more pleasant, comfortable and sustainable way of traveling.”


For summer 2022, SAS will offer service to seven destinations in the U.S. and Canada, including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Washington D.C. and Toronto.

SAS is the leading airline in Scandinavia, normally carrying over 30 million passengers annually from its main hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm to 125 destinations in Europe, the US and Asia (pre-pandemic figures). The company has targeted a reduction in carbon emissions by 25 percent by 2025, compared to 2005 levels, and hopes to transition to 100% biofuel for domestic flights by 2030. SAS also offers ground handling services, technical maintenance and cargo services. The carrier is a founding member of the Star Alliance, which offers an extensive global network.
