Qatar Airways has launched a new codeshare partnership with Xiamen Airlines, the first Chinese carrier to offer direct flights from Mainland China to Qatar. Under the agreement, Xiamen Airlines will launch daily flights between Beijing and Doha.
On Saturday (September 9, 2023), Qatar Airways announced the launch of a new codeshare partnership with Xiamen Airlines. Under the agreement, Xiamen Airlines will launch daily service between Beijing’s Daxing International Airport and Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, becoming the only Chinese carrier offering nonstop flights between Mainland China and Doha. Starting October 20, 2023, the route will be operated with a state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Flights will arrive in Doha at 22:45 and depart for Beijing at 02:00, providing travelers optimized connections to key markets in Qatar Airways’ network across the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
In Saturday’s announcement, Qatar Airways Group’s Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said,
“We are delighted to announce this comprehensive cooperation and to welcome our new partner, Xiamen Airlines, to Hamad International Airport, our home in Qatar. We are proud and honoured that Xiamen Airlines has chosen Doha as a new destination in their network and their only destination in the Middle East. Their flights are perfectly connected to our unparalleled global network offering customers of both airlines greater choice and seamless travel experiences.”
Also commenting on the new codeshare partnership, Xiamen Airlines’ Chairman, Mr. Zhao Dong, said,
“Both Qatar Airways and Xiamen Airlines are the winners of APEX World Class Awards in 2022 showing our shared commitment to high quality service. The partnership of two Five-Star airlines will bring wonderful flying experiences to the customers worldwide.”
Xiamen Airlines’ new service between Beijing and Doha will be operated with a 287-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner configured with 30 Business Class and 257 Economy Class seats. In addition to the new Beijing-Doha service, Xiamen Airlines is also launching two weekly flights between Xiamen and Doha starting October 31, 2023. Flights will arrive in Doha at 05:00 and depart for Beijing at 19:30. The Xiamen-Doha route will be operated with a 237-seat Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner configured with four First Class, 18 Business Class, and 215 Economy Class seats.
Qatar Airways will codeshare on these flights, expanding their Mainland China network to six destinations with 31 weekly flights, as well as double daily flights to Hong Kong. As part of the new codeshare agreement, Xiamen Airlines will place their marketing code on Qatar Airways’ flights to and from Beijing.
