Qatar Airways Expands Codeshare With LATAM Airlines Brazil, Increases South American Connectivity

With the codeshare expansion, Qatar Airways will place their code on 45 additional LATAM Airlines Brazil flights, expanding connectivity across Brazil to destinations including Curitiba, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Luiz and Vitoria.

On Monday (January 4, 2021), Qatar Airways announced an expansion of their codeshare partnership with LATAM Airlines Brazil which will increase South America connectivity. Under the expansion, Qatar Airways will place their code on 45 additional LATAM Airlines Brazil flights to destinations including Curitiba, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Luiz and Vitoria. LATAM Airlines Brazil will also place their code on Qatar Airways’ recently expanded 10 weekly flights to and from São Paulo as well as additional destinations via Doha such as Bangkok, Hong Kong, the Maldives, Nairobi, Seoul and Tokyo. The expanded codeshare agreement builds on the existing partnership which was established in 2016 and expanded in 2019. In Monday’s announcement, Qatar Airways Group’s Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said,


“South America is a strategically important market for Qatar Airways. We are proud to demonstrate our strong commitment to passengers travelling to and from South America by providing even more flexible travel options. By increasing São Paulo services to 10 weekly flights and expanding our codeshare agreement with LATAM Airlines Brasil, we will further cement our position as the airline of choice for customers travelling between Asia, the Middle East and South America.


“Since 2016, both Qatar Airways and LATAM Airlines Brasil have witnessed the significant mutual benefits commercial cooperation have brought, providing our passengers with unrivalled service and seamless connectivity and it is why our codeshare cooperation has been expanded twice in recent years. We look forward to further strengthening our commercial cooperation with LATAM Airlines Brasil to enhance the travel experience for our millions of customers.”


Also commenting on the codeshare expansion, LATAM Airlines Brazil’s CEO, Mr. Jerome Cadier, added,


“We are expanding connectivity and the choice of destinations for our customers. Even in a year as difficult as 2020, we are committed to offering our passengers more options to travel further with greater convenience and simplicity.”


In addition to extensive domestic connectivity in Brazil, Qatar Airways’ guests will also enjoy seamless access to international destinations on LATAM Airlines Brazil’s South American network such as Lima (Peru), Montevideo (Uruguay) and Santiago (Chile). LATAM Brazil’s customers will also benefit from Qatar Airways’ 10 weekly flights to/from São Paulo operated with a state-of-the-art Airbus A350-1000, featuring the award-winning Qsuite Business Class seats. Additionally, frequent flyers will be able to earn and redeem miles across the entire networks of both carriers and will receive tier status recognition and benefits such as priority check-in and boarding.


Qatar Airways is the national carrier of the state of Qatar and currently operates over 700 weekly flights to more than 110 destinations, providing more flexible travel options to more global destinations than any other airline. The airline plans on increasing their offer to 129 destinations by the end of March 2021.
