Qatar Airways Accelerates Launch of Seattle Service to January 29, 2021

The airline has announced that their launch of four weekly flights between Doha and Seattle will be accelerated by nearly two months and now commence on January 29, 2021.

On Thursday (December 31, 2021), Qatar Airways announced that they will accelerate their launch of four weekly flights to Seattle by nearly two months, with the route now scheduled to start on January 29, 2021. The inaugural service was originally scheduled to start on March 15, 2021. Qatar Airways’ Doha-Seattle service will be operated with a state-of-the-art Boeing 777 configured with 42 Business Class and 312 Economy Class seats. Business Class guests traveling to and from Seattle and all 11 U.S. gateways served by Qatar Airways will enjoy the airline’s award-winning Qsuite product with a spacious 1-2-1 layout. In Thursday’s announcement, Qatar Airways Group’s Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said,


“Qatar Airways is committed to enhancing its connectivity with the U.S. market. Bringing forward the launch of flights to Seattle, our second new U.S. destination since the onset of the pandemic, epitomizes this commitment. With flights to Washington State’s largest city our U.S. network will grow to 11 gateways, surpassing the number of destinations we operated in the U.S. pre-COVID19. We look forward to launching our Seattle service and connecting with the hub of our future oneworld partner, Alaska Airlines.”


Also commenting on the launch of Seattle service, the Port of Seattle’s Commission President, Peter Steinbrueck, added,


“Despite the worldwide pandemic, Qatar Airways' new service to SEA demonstrates the strength and resilience of our region as an important global travel destination. We are committed to improving the global traveller experience, and will continue to invest confidently in projects such as the International Arrivals Facility and North Satellite Modernization programs at SEA.”


Seattle will become Qatar Airways seventh new destination added since the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic and expand the airline’s U.S. network to 66 weekly flights to 11 gateways. Guests traveling to the U.S. on Qatar Airways will also enjoy seamless onward connections to hundreds of additional destinations via the carrier’s strategic partnerships with Alaska Airlines, American Airlines and JetBlue. In addition to the new Seattle service, Qatar Airways serves Boston, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York-JFK, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Washington D.C. As previously announced on December 15th, Qatar Airways has launched a frequent flyer partnership with Alaska Airlines and plans on implementing a codeshare partnership when Alaska joins oneworld in March 2021.
