Qantas announced on Monday the grand opening of a new Luxury First lounge at Singapore-Changi. The new lounge is over 1,000 square meters and complements the airline’s existing International Business Lounge.
On Monday, Qantas announced the opening of a new First Class Lounge at Singapore’s Changi Airport. The lounge will be operating in conjunction with Qanats’ existing International Business Lounge and can accommodate 240 additional customers. Designed by Australian David Caon in collaboration with Kevin Ho of Akin Atelie, the lounge is influenced by the style and tastes of Singapore. In today’s announcement, Qantas Group’s CEO, Alan Joyce said,
“Since our A380 flights have returned to Singapore, we’ve seen an increase in demand for premium travel which has also translated into the number of travelers enjoying our lounge hospitality. This is our fourth Qantas First lounge, and each time we build an entire new lounge facility from scratch, we speak to our frequent flyers to get a better understanding of how our customers like to spend their time in the lounge and tailor it accordingly. Our customers told us their key priorities when traveling through or from Singapore is space to relax and do some last-minute work, a quick shower, and a meal before departure so they can maximize their sleep onboard.”
The new Qantas First Lounge features an open kitchen that will serve a Rockpool seasonal a-la-carte menu inspired by Singapore’s vibrant food culture. Qantas’ Creative Director of Food, Beverage & Service, Neil Perry added,
“The Singapore food scene is one of my favorites in the world. The iconic hawker markets and fine dining restaurants inspired us to design a menu that gives customers an authentic taste of Singapore without leaving the airport. Singapore cuisine has an incredible balance of flavorsome ingredients which influenced new signature dishes like the grilled skate in browned sambal butter with capers. Customers visit the First Lounge at different stages of their trip, so we included items like poached eggs with mushrooms and salsa verde on sourdough and First Lounge classics like the chicken club sandwich with salt and pepper squid, intended to cater to our customers and their taste buds regardless of where they are on their journey.”
The lounge also features a cocktail bar that serves French champagne, fine spirits, curated Australian wines, a selection of non-alcoholic healthy choices and all-day barista service. The space is designed to provide guests with a feeling of “calming luxury” and includes live greenery and faux skylights that bring the outside in, helping customers relax. Business travelers also have plenty of space to work, either in a communal setting or in individual lounge chairs with privacy dividers. Additionally, Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, wireless printers and TV screens are available to keep lounge guests recharged and connected…if they so wish.
