Porter Airlines Launches New Embraer E195-E2 Service Between Toronto Pearson and Thunder Bay

Porter Airlines has announced their newest Embraer E195-E2 route with service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Thunder Bay International Airport (YQT).  The route will operate three times weekly from October 16, 2024.

On Wednesday (August 14, 2024), Porter Airlines announced their newest Embraer E195-E2 route, with service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Thunder Bay International Airport (YQT).  Starting October 16, 2024, Porter will operate three weekly return trips on the route.  The carrier has served Thunder Bay since 2009, and currently operates up to five daily roundtrip flights between Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport , as well as double daily flights to/from Ottawa with a 78-seat De Havilland Canada DHC Dash 8-400.


In Wednesday’s announcement, Porter Airlines’ President, Kevin Jackson, said,


“This new Toronto-Pearson service will increase our passenger capacity in Thunder Bay by more than 10%, providing everyone with more options to fly with Porter.  Thunder Bay has been very loyal to Porter, and we are committed to providing the community with a variety of service options at competitive fares.  We hope to increase flights on this route as we introduce more new E195-E2s into our fleet next year.”


Also commenting on the new E195-E2 service, Thunder Bay International Airports Authority’s President & CEO, Graham Ingham, added,


“On behalf of the Thunder Bay International Airports Authority, we are thrilled to welcome Porter Airlines’ new service to Toronto-Pearson.  This exciting expansion highlights Porter’s unwavering commitment to providing travel options and enhancing connectivity for our community.  Since they arrived in 2009, Porter has significantly expanded their presence in Thunder Bay and has established itself as a key player in Canadian aviation.  We are excited to continue our partnership with Porter and look forward to the new opportunities this expansion will create for our region.”


Guests traveling on Porter’s new 132-seat E195-E2s will enjoy an elevated onboard economy service with complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, free premium snacks, as well as complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi.  PorterReserve fares also include priority check-in, extra legroom seats, premium mixed cocktails, and fresh, heathy meals.  These ancillaries can also be purchased à la carte with PorterClassic fares.
