Porter Airlines has launched new coast-to-coast service between Toronto and Vancouver with their new Embraer E195-E2. The inaugural flight also included the debut of Porter’s enhanced inflight catering menu.
On Tuesday (February 7, 2023) Porter Airlines celebrated the launch on new coast-to-coast service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR), marking the first service to Western Canada in the carrier’s 16-year history. The route will operate once daily with an Embraer E195-E2, increasing to three daily returns by March 22, 2023. The inaugural flight on the route also featured the debut of the airline’s enhanced inflight menu, along with free, fast Wi-Fi for all guests. Porter’s signature service includes complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, as well as a selection of premium snacks on every flight.
On longer routes, such as Toronto-Vancouver, the service features enhancements, including fresh, healthy meals, pre-mixed cocktails and additional snack options. The enhanced service options are available with the carrier’s all-inclusive PorterReserve fare, or can be purchased a la carte with PorterClassic fares. PorterReserve also includes dedicated airport check-in, early boarding, enhanced legroom, two checked bags, and fee-free flight changes. With sustainability at the heart of the new menu design, Porter will reduce and eventually eliminate single-use plastic onboard by providing biodegradable cups and cutlery, along with eco-friendly packaging. The airline’s catering partners also feature high-quality Canadian brands.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Porter Airlines’ President and CEO, Michael Deluce, said,
“Today’s flights between Toronto Pearson and Vancouver are the first opportunity for passengers to experience what Porter is offering for the economy traveller. It’s a level of service that is unheard of for North American airlines. It will appeal to business and leisure travellers who appreciate an elevated level of service at a reasonable price.”
Also commenting on Porter’s new coast-to-coast service, Vancouver Airport Authority’s Vice President and Chief External Affairs Officer, Mike McNaney, added,
“We are proud to welcome Porter Airlines to the YVR airport community as part of its service to Western Canada. Both Vancouver and Toronto are home to Canada’s largest airports and major regional hubs. This service further strengthens our connectivity while providing our travellers with greater flexibility and choice.”
Porter will also launch additional flights this month from Toronto Pearson, including service to Edmonton (Feb. 14), Calgary (Feb 22), and Halifax (Feb. 23), with more destinations to be announced throughout the year. Porter’s new Embraer E195-E2s can reach every key market in North America, including the West Coast, Mexico and the Caribbean.
