Starting April 12, 2025, PLAY Airlines will launch new nonstop service between Iceland and Faro in Portugal. The seasonal route will operate twice weekly on Saturdays and Wednesdays through October 29, 2025.
On Wednesday (August 28, 2024), PLAY Airlines announced the launch of new direct service between Iceland and Faro in Portugal starting April 12, 2025. The route will operate twice weekly on Saturdays and Wednesdays through October 29, 2025. PLAY offers low-cost flights from Iceland to North America and Europe. Inbound customers to Iceland can also enjoy PLAY’s unique stopover option, allowing travelers to explore Iceland for up to 10 days at no additional airfare cost before continuing their transatlantic journey.
In Wednesday’s announcement, PLAY Airlines’ CEO, Einar Örn Ólafsson, said,
“With the addition of Faro to our growing network, we are excited to offer more opportunities for travelers to affordably explore the world. This new route reflects our commitment to connecting North America and Europe through Iceland, providing our passengers with exceptional service and unforgettable experiences.”
In North America, PLAY offers service to/from Baltimore, Boston, New York, Washington D.C., and Toronto. The carrier operates a fleet of 10 Airbus A320/321neo aircraft with an average age of just over two years.
Founded in 2019 by Arnar Magnússon and launched in June 2021, PLAY is a new Iceland-based low-cost carrier (LCC) which operates flights to nearly 40 destinations between Iceland and Europe, as well as to North America. Currently, PLAY operates flights from Baltimore, Boston, New York, and Washington D.C. in the U.S., as well as from Toronto, Canada. The carrier’s core motto is ‘Pay Less PLAY More’, meaning that the airline’s customers spend less on airfare and more while enjoying their holiday destination. PLAY’s fleet of 10 Airbus A320/A321neos is among the youngest fleets in Europe.
