Philippine Airlines Announces New Nonstop from Cebu to Los Angeles

Philippine Airlines announced Tuesday the relaunch of nonstop service from Cebu to Los Angeles from May 2020. The route will operate three times weekly from the new Terminal 2 at Mactan Cebu International Airport and serviced with a Boeing 777-300ER.

Today, Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced that they will re-introduce direct nonstop service from Cebu in the Visayas region to Los Angeles. Starting May 2, 2020, PAL will offer three weekly flights from the new Terminal 2 at Mactan Cebu International Airport (CEB) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). With the new route, PAL will now offer 64 weekly flights to the U.S., Canada and Guam. The CEB-LAX route will be operated with a Boeing 777-300ER configured for 370 passengers featuring Business Class with full lie-flat seats, and 18.4” IFE system, retractable dividers, an ottoman (that doubles as a storage area), and in seat power and USB ports. Economy Class guests will enjoy a seat pitch of 34 inches, an 11” IFE system, as well as USB ports. In Tuesday’s announcement, Philippine Airlines’ President and COO, Gilbert Santa Maria said,


“We look forward to treating our customers to the fastest flights between the US mainland and the Visayas / Mindanao region, via PAL’s new Cebu-LAX route. Our upcoming service from Cebu to LA is a vivid demonstration of our commitment to build up Mactan Cebu as a global aviation hub, a dynamic gateway, not only to domestic points, but to major international destinations. Los Angeles and the USA now joins Tokyo, Osaka, Bangkok, Nagoya and Seoul in the list of PAL overseas destinations served from Cebu.”


Philippine Airlines previously operated the 14-hour nonstop CEB-LAX route from March 2016 through May 2017. PAL will operate the re-introduced route from May 2, 2020 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. PAL flight (PR152) will depart Cebu at 9:00PM, arriving Los Angeles at 7:30PM the same day. The return flight (PR153) will depart LAX at 11:00PM and arrive in Cebu at 5:00AM two days later.


PAL is the largest operator between the Philippines and North America offering the most nonstop flight to Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York-JFK, Honolulu, Toronto and Vancouver. The airline also recently announced new international service between Manila and Perth (from March 30th), Zamboanga and Kota Kinabalu (starting March 29th) and Davao and Manado (beginning on March 29th).
