On Thursday (February 1st, 2024), Condor announced that Peter Gerber has officially become the carrier’s new Chief Executive Officer.  Mr. Gerber succeeds Ralf Teckentrup, who stepped down at the end of December 2023 after nearly 20 years as Condor’s CEO.  Peter Gerber will now lead Germany’s second largest airline, together with Chief Operating Officer and Accountable Manager Christian Schmitt, and Björn Walther, Chief Financial Officer.  From March 4, 2024, the carrier’s management team will be complete with the addition of Heiko Holm as CTO.

In Thursday’s announcement, Condor’s new CEO, Peter Gerber, said,

“I am very pleased to be taking over the management of Condor. Under Ralf Teckentrup’s leadership, the company has overcome existential crises in recent years and at the same time set an important course for the future: The fleet change to the most modern fleet in Europe was initiated, many new employees were hired, and extensive investments were initiated, for example in IT and digitalization. We will continue this transformation together in order to lay the foundations for successful long-term growth.”

Peter Gerber previously worked for the Lufthansa Group for over 30 years, holding a range of management and board positions.  He is a law graduate and brings with him an extensive network in business and politics.  Recently, Mr. Gerber further expanded this network as Lufthansa Group’s Chief Representative for European Affairs, and as President of the Federal Association of the German Air Transport Industry (BDL).

Founded in 1956, Condor Flugdienst GmbH is Germany’s favorite leisure airline and serves over nine million guests annually to 90 destinations in Europe, Africa, and America from nine German gateways, Zurich and Vienna.  The German leisure carrier has a fleet of over 50 aircraft which are meticulously maintained to the highest safety standards by their wholly owned subsidiary Condor Technik with facilities in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf.  Condor was the German launch customer for the state-of-the-art Airbus A330neo.
