On Tuesday (August 3, 2021), Norwegian Air announced the launch of 24-hour open purchase for all ticket types. The added flexibility allows customers to cancel tickets for a full refund for up to 24 hours after booking. The offer is valid for bookings on flights departing more than 24 hours ahead of purchase and applies to all ticket types including LowFare, LowFare+ and Flex. Earlier in the pandemic, Norwegian offered temporary flexibility measures such as free changes to tickets that were not initially fully flexible, but with today’s announcement, the carrier has increased the cancellation period with a full refund from four to 24 hours after purchase.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Norwegian’s Executive Vice President for Market, Sales and Customer Service, Christoffer Sunby, said,

“The past year has shown us that the situation for travellers can change quickly. We are now meeting customer needs by making ticket purchases more flexible, increasing from 4 to 24-hour open purchases. With this, we also give customers more room for maneuver in connection with, for example, associated hotel bookings or other preparations for travel.”

Norwegian is a major player in tourism and aviation in Norway and employs over 2,000 team members. The carrier’s network currently offers domestic service in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, as well as flights to popular destinations throughout Europe.
