On Tuesday (May 7, 2024), Nolinor Aviation announced the opening of a new sub-base in Edmonton, Alberta from June 2024.  The new base will extend the carrier’s reach in Western Canada, providing direct service to mining projects across Nunavut.  Nolinor will deploy a Boeing 737-200 at the new Edmonton base, the only model certified by Boeing for gravel runway operations.  The aircraft also offers flexible cargo capacity, and features an enlarged cargo door that can accommodate a wide range of cargo sizes.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Nolinor Aviation’s President, Marco Prud’Homme, said,

“Choosing a Boeing 737-200 to operate our operations in Edmonton is consistent with our commitment to directly meet the logistics needs of the mining industry.  By eliminating the need for technical stops, our direct service improves our loading capabilities and significantly expands our range of services for the entire region.  This direct approach not only saves time, but also increases our capacity to transport an increased volume of passengers and cargo to operating sites.”

Founded in 1992, Nolinor Aviation is Canada’s largest airline offering specialized commercial charter flights.  The company’s OWG division was founded in 2020 and offers scheduled service to select Caribbean destinations.  Nolinor operates an all-Boeing fleet of Boeing 737-200s, 737-300s, 737-400s and 737-800s.
