Michael Trestl is Reappointed as Austrian Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer Through 2028

The Supervisory Board of Austrian Airlines has reappointed Michael Trestl as a member of the Executive Board and Chief Commercial Officer for a further five years, from January 1st 2024 through December 31, 2028.

On Tuesday (March 21, 2023), Austrian Airlines announced that Michael Trestl (37) has been reappointed as a member of the airline’s Executive Board and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) for a further five year term from January 1st, 2024 through December 31, 2028. Born in lower Austria, Mr. Trestl has been a member of Austrian’s management team since January 2021 and is responsible for areas including Sales, Network & Revenue Management, Brand Experience and IT. Other members of Austrian Airlines’ Management Board include Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Annette Mann, and Chief Operations Officer (COO), Francesco Sciortino.

Speaking on Michael Trestl’s reappointment, Austrian Airlines AG’s Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, Christina Foerster, said,


“Michael Trestl has taken over the commercial responsibility for Austrian Airlines as CCO in the middle of the Corona pandemic. With his strategic expertise and his teamwork skills, he has made a significant contribution to steering the airline well through the crisis and enabling a subsequent revival. Only recently, Austrian Airlines presented a positive annual result for the first time since the pandemic.


Also commenting on his reappointment, Michael Trestl added,


“I am looking forward to further intensive years with the Austrian Airlines team. In the coming weeks and months, we will enjoy working on strengthening our customer experience and continue to focus on our positioning as an attractive network carrier. Austrian Airlines is and will remain Austria’s number 1 airline.”

Austrian Airlines is Austria’s largest airline, operating a global network with a focus on central and Eastern Europe. Founded in 1957, the airline has carried over 305 million customers. Every day, approximately 6,000 team members ensure approximately 220 flights takeoff and arrive at their destination safely. Austrian’s current fleet includes nine long-haul Boeing 767s and 777s, and 53 short & medium-haul aircraft including Airbus A320 and A320neo Families, and Embraer E195s. From October 2022 through Spring 2023, Austrian Airlines has or will welcome four new Airbus A320neos, expanding their total fleet to 65 aircraft.
