American Airlines customers flying out of Miami International Airport can now pre-schedule TSA screening with MIA Reserve, a complimentary service. The six month pilot program with security tech firm Pangiam and American Airlines launched today.
On Thursday (September 15, 2022), Miami International Airport (MIA) announced the launch of ‘MIA Reserve’, a free service available for American Airlines' customers for pre-scheduling TSA screening times. The six month pilot program, a collaboration between security technology company Pangiam and American Airlines, will be available to American Airlines’ passengers at MIA’s TSA Checkpoint 4 from 5-7 a.m. and from 1-3 p.m. Reservations are limited and can be scheduled up to 72 hours prior to departure. Appointments are available up to 60 minutes before domestic flights and up to 90 minutes before international flights.
In Thursday’s announcment, Miami-Dade County’s Mayor, Daniella Levine Cava, said,
“As MIA continues to set new records in passenger traffic, I’m proud to see that we are also exploring new ways to streamline the airport experience for our visitors. MIA Reserve has the potential to help many of our travelers get through the security checkpoint faster than ever before.”
Also commenting on the screening pilot program, Pangiam’s CEO, Kevin McAleenan, said,
“MIA and American Airlines are leaders in innovating on behalf of travelers, so Pangiam is proud to partner with them on MIA Reserve to make the security experience more predictable. Together with CLEAR and Copenhagen Optimization, we’re deploying the best reservation system for airport security in the nation at MIA.”
Miami International Airport’s Director and CEO, Ralph Cutié, added,
“We are excited to partner with American Airlines and Pangiam on this six-month pilot program for MIA Reserve, which could pave the way for even shorter checkpoint wait times at MIA.”
American Airlines’ customers can sign up for MIA Reserve 72 hour before their flights or upon arrival at MIA by clicking here. Travelers who didn’t pre-schedule the service can still make reservations by using their smartphone to scan the QR code on the MIA Reserve signs at Checkpoint 4, and then setting up an appointment. A grace period of 10 minutes per appointments allows MIA Reserve customers to arrive in the queue any time within a 10-minute window after their appointment time. Customers arriving after the grace period must enter through the regular lanes. Passengers traveling in groups can book on behalf of others in their party by specifying the party size during booking, with a maximum group size of 10 under one reservation.
