On Monday (September 25, 2023), Malaysia Airlines announced the launch of new twice-weekly service between Kuala Lumpur and Kertajati in Indonesia starting October 30, 2023. Flight MH0845 will depart Kuala Lumpur at 18:25, and the route will be operated with a Boeing 737-800NG. With the added route, Malaysia Airlines will now serve seven destinations in Indonesia, including Jakarta, Denpasar, Medan, Yogyakarta, Pekanbaru, and Surabaya.

In Monday’s route announcement, Malaysia Aviation Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, said,

“As one of the top five largest markets for Malaysia Airlines, the addition of Kertajati to our network will not only provide greater flexibility and convenience for travellers – whether for leisure or business – but also stimulate tourism receipts and strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries. With this new service, travellers can seamlessly explore more of West Java, with its strategic connectivity to beautiful Bandung, Cirebon, Majalengka and more. As global travel demand continues to strengthen, we are seeing positive response on our Indonesia routes to date, with average load factor at 80%. We invite travellers to take advantage of the introductory fares while enjoying the warm Malaysian Hospitality service that comes with flying with Malaysia Airlines.”

Celebrating the launch of the new route between Kuala Lumpur and Kertajati, the carrier is offering introductory return fares from RM519 in Economy and from RM1,969 in Business Class. To qualify for the low promotional fares, tickets must be booked by October 8th, for travel from October 30, 2023 through March 29, 2024.
