Lufthansa’s Boeing 787-9 With Special Centennial Livery Will Arrive in Frankfurt in December

This December, a Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner featuring a special 100th anniversary livery, registration D-ABPU, is set to arrive in Frankfurt. The aircraft will enter passenger revenue service in January 2026.

On Monday (November 17, 2025), Lufthansa announced that a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner featuring the iconic Lufthansa 100th anniversary special livery will arrive in Frankfurt this December. The aircraft, which received its livery at Boeing in Charleston (South Carolina), was transferred to Everett (Washington) on Sunday, November 16th. The aircraft, named Berlin, is expected to arrive in Frankfurt shortly before Christmas, before entering regular scheduled service in January 2026.

The special liveried 787-9 Dreamliner, registration D-ABPU, was designed to mark Lufthansa's 100th anniversary in 2026, and combines tradition and the future in an iconic design. The blue fuselage is adorned with a white crane whose wings merge into the wings, turning the aircraft into a flying ambassador for Lufthansa.
