Lufthansa Resumes Nonstop Service Between Munich and Riyadh

Starting October 26, 2025, Lufthansa will once again offer direct service between Munich and Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The route will operate three times weekly with an Airbus A350-900.

On Friday (August 8, 2025), Lufthansa announced the restart of nonstop service between Munich and Riyadh, Saudia Arabia. Starting October 26, 2025, the route will operate three times weekly with a 293-seat Airbus A350-900 configured in three classes. Flight LH640 will depart Munich at 21:45, and will land in Riyadh at 04:50+1, while the return flight departs Riyadh at 06:25 and touches down back in Munich at 10:25. The route schedule has been optimized to facilitate connections to the global Lufthansa network via the Munich hub.
Lufthansa is celebrating the 65th anniversary of their first flight to Saudi Arabia this year. Together with Eurowings and ITA Airways, Lufthansa will be flying to Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah. In the future, these three Lufthansa Group airlines will offer passengers a total of 22 weekly departures to Saudi Arabia in. In total, the airlines of the Lufthansa Group will offer more than 120 weekly flights to the region.
Riyadh is the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and has a population of just under eight million residents. The city is growing steadily and is home to numerous universities, museums and monuments, and is centrally located in the interior of the country, surrounded by desert. Riyadh has been the capital of Saudi Arabia since the country's independence in 1932. Historically, Riyadh has also been a very important stopover on the pilgrimage routes to Mecca and Medina, the most important pilgrimage sites in Islam. Additionally, in the future, Riyadh will host major events, such as the annual ‘Riyadh Season’ in winter, Saudi Arabia's largest festival, as well as The World Expo in 2030, and the FIFA Men's World Cup in 2034.
