Lufthansa has launched a range of fresh, high quality meals, snacks and drinks for purchase by Economy Class passengers on European routes. The new catering concept called ‘Onboard Delights’ features sustainable food and environmentally-friendly packaging.
On Wednesday (May 26, 2021), Lufthansa announced the launch of their new ‘Onboard Delights’ catering concept for European flights. The menu includes a range of fresh, high quality meals, snacks and drinks available for purchase by Economy Class guests. All customers will also enjoy free water and a chocolate surprise. The Onboard Delights menu includes customer favorites such as the Falafel Tahini Salad, Crunchy Chicken Bowl, Bircher Muesli or apple crumble cake, accompanied by a choice of beverages such as soft drinks, wine or coffee. The new culinary assortment is now available on cross-border flights with a duration of at least 60 minutes.
At Lufthansa’s Frankfurt and Munich hubs the meals are prepared daily by the catering company Gate Gourmet, featuring recipes from dean&david, a successful new gastronomy company. The Munich-based company is known for outstanding quality, as well as a sense of responsibility, with the avoidance of food and packaging waste. Additionally, Lufthansa has expanded their relationship with the Munich-based coffee house, Dallmayr, under which the firm will supply the confectionary and patisserie specialties, as well as the hot beverage for the Onboard Delights menu. The hot beverage offer also includes a special Ethiopian Coffee, with proceeds linked to support of various humanitarian projects in the Dano region.

Naturally, a large selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available along with numerous snack options. Fresh food is available for purchase from €5.50, coffee and tea from €3.00, soft drinks or beer from €3.50 and small snacks from €2.00. The Onboard Delights selection will be refreshed every three months. For hygiene purposes, payments must be made exclusively without cash. Lufthansa’s Business Class service concept remains unchanged.
