For the first time outside of Europe, Lufthansa Group will offer travelers the opportunity to book an air and rail intermodal itinerary through a new partnership with KORAIL in South Korea.

On Wednesday (October 4, 2023), Lufthansa Group announced the launch of an innovative rail and partnership with KORAIL in South Korea through AccessRail. This marks the first time the Group will offer intermodal itineraries outside of Europe. Lufthansa customers will now be able to seamlessly connect from Seoul Incheon (ICN) to eight domestic destinations in South Korea, including Busan, Dongdaegu, Gwangju, Ulsan, Yeosu, Mokpo, and Jinju on a single ticket. Customers can now book intermodal South Korean itineraries through the Lufthansa website or with their preferred travel agent with full GDS integration of these products.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Lufthansa Group’s Head of Partnership Management, Roy Lease, said,
“Extending our intermodal offers to regions outside of the Lufthansa Group hubs is part of our multimodal strategy. By offering connecting services with the Korean Railway company KORAIL, we are happy to integrate 8 Korean cities into the Lufthansa Group network.”
KORAIL is the primary rail operator in South Korea, and the new partnership is the first for the Lufthansa Group in the Asia Pacific region. Lufthansa customers will now be able to enjoy more flexibility and choice when flying from South Korea to Europe and beyond.
