On Tuesday (June 14, 2022), Lufthansa Cargo announced the opening of their new ‘ARTcube’ fine arts storage facility at Frankfurt Airport. The new 155 square meter facility at the Lufthansa Cargo Center will offer customers twice as much space for the safe storage of high-value fine arts of all kinds. Customers shipping fine arts will benefit from the facility’s modern technical equipment such as a targeted temperature control HVAC system and vertical window strips on the façade that allow for natural lighting optimized by a supporting lighting system, as well as specially trained handling personnel. Additionally, access to the ARTcube is controlled and monitored by sensitive security technology. As an added service, customers can even book an individual attendant to accompany their fine arts shipments, especially on the ground.
In Tuesday’s announcment, Lufthansa Cargo’s Head of Handling in Frankfurt, Thomas Rohrmeier, said,
“The modern ARTcube combines optimal handling processes with the highest security features. This allows us to meet the special requirements of sensitive art objects and offer customized solutions for the storage of Fine Arts in our Hub. With the new building, we have further sharpened our qualitative focus on this special product and thus curators and art collectors experience the best storage conditions for their Fine Arts shipments with us.”
