On Tuesday (November 25, 2025), Lufthansa Cargo announced the opening of the first phase of the new Lufthansa Cargo headquarters at Frankfurt Airport, marking a key milestone in the comprehensive modernization of their air freight hub in Frankfurt.  The official building approval will take place in mid-December, and then, the first 60 office workspaces in the revitalized building will open for operations.  Three additional construction phases will follow through 2028, with phase two scheduled for completion in fall 2026.  The new, modern, 10,000 square meter office space is part of a comprehensive modernization of the company’s cargo infrastructure at the Lufthansa Cargo Campus including the ongoing construction of the new cargo hub at Frankfurt Airport.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Lufthansa Cargo’s CEO, Ashwin Bhat, said,

“The new headquarters is more than just a building - it is a place where our culture comes to life and a clear commitment to the future of our company and our location in Frankfurt.  With our modern workspaces, we are creating space for collaboration, innovation, and growth - and thus sending a clear signal about our ambitions to shape the air freight of tomorrow. In addition, the modernization of our cargo hub forms the basis for offering our customers reliable and high-quality transport solutions around the world.”

Representing a €600 million investment, the program known as ‘LCCevo’ is currently Lufthansa Group’s largest infrastructure project.  By 2030, the existing cargo center, covering a total of 330,000 square meters will be gradually and fundamentally modernized, while remaining in operation.  Lufthansa Cargo’s future goal is to operate the most modern air freight location in Europe.  The Lufthansa Cargo Center has been operating continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week, since 1982, and has since established itself as a central hub in global air freight traffic.  With 1.4 million tons of freight annually, around 80 percent of the company’s global freight volume is handled there.  A key element of the construction project is a 42-meter-high bay warehouse, one of the tallest buildings at Frankfurt Airport.
