Lufthansa has announced that Francesco Sciortino, currently Chief Operating Officer at Austrian Airlines, will become the Hub Manager for Frankfurt, while Heiko Reitz, Member of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Airlines, will become Hub Manager for Munich.

On Thursday (July 31, 2025), Lufthansa Group announced changes in top management at Lufthansa Airlines. Effective September 1, 2025, Austrian Airlines’ Member of the Executive Board and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Francesco Sciortino will join the Executive Board of Lufthansa Airlines and become the Hub Manager for Frankfurt. Prior to his role at Austrian Airlines, Mr. Sciortino was Managing Director and Accountable Manager at Germanwings and SunExpress. He is also an Airbus A330/340 captain at Lufthansa. As planned, Klaus Froese, the interim Hub Manager for Frankfurt, is transferring to Lufthansa's Boeing 747 fleet as a captain.
Additionally, Heiko Reitz, Member of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Airlines, will become Hub Manager for Munich on September 1, 2025. Jens Ritter, who holds this position in addition to his role as CEO of Lufthansa Airlines, will focus on the further development of the Group’s flagship airline, driving forward the consistent implementation of the carrier’s turnaround program.
Lufthansa Airlines introduced two Hub Manager positions in the beginning of 2025, with explicit responsibility for improving operational processes between the Lufthansa teams and their partners at both locations in Frankfurt and Munich. Since then, operational stability and punctuality have improved significantly, as well as customer satisfaction.
