KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and the new Italian national carrier ITA Airways have signed a codeshare agreement that enables passengers to book KLM tickets to ITA’s European destinations and ITA customers to book tickets to KLM’s European destinations.
On Friday (December 3, 2021), KLM Royal Dutch Airlines announced the signing of a new codeshare partnership with Italian carrier ITA Airways. The agreement will enable customers to book KLM tickets to ITA’s European destinations, while ITA customers will also be able to book tickets to KLM’s European destinations. Additionally, the airlines will facilitate seamless guest transfers at Rome Fiumicino and Amsterdam Schiphol airports. Under the codeshare partnership, KLM customers will enjoy access to more destinations in Italy and other ITA destinations in southeast Europe. KLM customers will now be able to fly with ITA via Rome or Milan to Palermo, Reggio Calabria, Bari, Brindisi, Lamezia Terme and Trieste in Italy, as well as to Malta and the Albanian city of Tirana.
In Friday’s announcement, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ President and CEO, Pieter Elbers, said,
“It's really good news that KLM and ITA Airways have been able to reach an agreement so quickly after the loss of Alitalia, enabling them to work together on European routes. Italy is an important market for the airline industry in Europe, both for business and leisure travellers. Partnerships like this one are important to our ability to provide the best possible service for our customers, who travel through Schiphol from all corners of the world.”
KLM currently offers 18 daily flights between Amsterdam and Milan (Malpensa and Linate), Turin, Genoa, Rome, Venice, Florence, Bologna and Catania. Guests traveling to Catania, Genoa and Venice will also have more options. In addition to KLM’s direct daily services, customers will also be able to transfer to ITA flights to these destinations. ITA Airways’ customers will also benefit from the new codeshare partnership with access to a large number of KLM destinations in Europe, including service to the United Kingdom and Scandinavia.
