At the Dubai Airshow on Tuesday, Kuwait-based Jazeera Airways signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for 20 Airbus A320neos and eight A321neos. The MoU was signed by Jazeera’s CEO Rohit Ramachandran and Airbus’ CCO Christian Scherer.
On Tuesday (November 16, 2021), Airbus announced from the Dubai Airshow that Kuwait-based Jazeera Airways has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 28 A320neo Family aircraft, including 20 A320neos and eight A321neos. The agreement was signed by Jazeera Airways’ Chief Executive Officer, Rohit Ramachandran, and Airbus’ Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International, Christian Scherer. Founded in 2005, Jazeera Airways has become a leading carrier in the region. The airline operates regionally and internationally serving the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Jazeera Airways’ Chairman, Marwan Boodai, said,
“Jazeera Airways is pleased to extend its long-term relationship with Airbus further with this significant new order. We will effectively double our current fleet size to 35 aircraft by 2026. The airline has pulled out of the pandemic strongly in Q3 with a return to profitability. We have exciting expansion plans ahead, which will further boost our contribution to the Kuwait economy and in particular the travel sector.”
Also commenting on the A320neo Family order, Airbus’ Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International, Christian Scherer, said,
“We are proud to extend our partnership with Jazeera Airways through this latest agreement which will add an additional 28 Airbus aircraft to its all Airbus fleet. The A320neo Family is without doubt the best platform to support Jazeera Airways’ growth plans. This is the perfect illustration of how Airbus helps escort the growth of its successful customers.”
The A320neo Family of aircraft incorporates the latest technologies including new generation engines, Sharklets and aerodynamics which combine to deliver a 20 percent reduction in fuel and CO2 compared to previous generation Airbus aircraft. To date, the A320neo Family has received over 7,400 orders from more than 120 customers worldwide.
