ITA Airways has entered a new codeshare agreement with Azul, which will see their AZ code placed on Azul’s domestic flights in Brazil to Belém, Cuiabá, Santos Dumont, Porto Alegre, Recife, Juazeiro do Norte, Confins and Curitiba via São Paulo.
On Tuesday (June 7, 2022), ITA Airways announced the launch of a new commercial codeshare partnership with Azul – Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras, Brazil’s largest airline by number of departures and destinations served. Under the agreement, ITA Airways will place their ‘AZ’ code on Azul operated flights to eight strategic domestic markets including Belém, Cuiabá, Santos Dumont, Porto Alegre, Recife, Juazeiro do Norte, Confins and Curitiba. From June 10, 2022, ITA Airways’ will be able to enjoy seamless onward one-stop connectivity via São Paulo. ITA will operate five weekly flights to São Paulo during June and July, increasing to daily service from August 2022.
Azul is the largest airline in Brazil, based on the number of departures and cities served. The carrier offers 850 daily departures to 150 destinations and operates a fleet of over 160 aircraft. The airline employs more than 12,000 and has a network of more than 200 nonstop routes.
