On Tuesday (May 17, 2022), Iberia announced the opening of ‘Espacio Iberia’ in the heart of Madrid, which will allow the general public to enjoy the carrier's new onboard experience without taking flight. The 350 square meter exhibit is located at Velázquez Street 37 in downtown Madrid and will be open all week from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. through June 30, 2022. In addition to Iberia’s new onboard experience, visitors to Espacio Iberia can view the carrier’s new uniforms (which will debut on June 1st), take a VR flight over New York and enjoy a cooking show event, along with wine and beer tastings. Guests can also purchase iconic Iberia merchandise such as aircraft models, replicas of historical posters, and even a handbag designed by Teresa Helbig, which will be used by select Iberia team members from June 1st.

While visiting Espacio Iberia, guests can enjoy Iberia's onboard experience in a cabin recreated with two Business seats, four Premium Economy seats and four Economy Class seats. Visitors can also enjoy the new inflight meals prepared by DO&CO, with menus based on the Mediterranean diet featuring high-quality fresh ingredients and local seasonal products. The new onboard experience showcased at Espacio Iberia will debut on all Iberia routes from June 1st, including new snacks, main dishes and desserts, as well as refreshed crockery and table linens with original and ‘Spanish’ flourishes such as the Las Meninas salt and paper shakers.

Customers ‘traveling’ in Economy at Espacio Iberia can also try out Iberia’s pre-order service which is offered on short and medium-haul flights. The visitors’ terrestrial onboard dining experience will then be rounded off with a special coffee offered by Lavazza. Additionally, visitors will have a chance to sample wines from Iberia’s Club del Vino, which features selections from the best Spanish wine regions. For true wine aficionados, there are several tastings scheduled each week with a sommelier from the Club del Vino. Beer tastings led by a Mahou beer sommelier can also be booked in advance online or at the Espacio Iberia lobby, subject to availability.

Iberia’s caterer DO&CO will also offer a cooking show event three times per week, where attendees can learn about what it is like to prepare meals onboard, as well as how to describe the flavors, textures and colors of the different foods, capped off with a beer tasting at the end of the show with pairing by Mahou. The showcase also includes a display of all the uniforms worn by Iberia team members throughout the airline’s history. Visitors to Espacio Iberia will even be able to try them all and be photographed with a fun ‘Glam Cam 360’, with Iberia sending each participant a gift slow motion video. Finally, the space will also host a small PhotoEspaña exhibition by photographer María Platero, as part of the company’s initiative to support Spanish art and culture, Talento a Bordo.
